Fantasy Friday: July 30th

Who to Start:
RA Dickey - SP - New York Mets:
Dickey's last two starts have been masterful. Yesterday he went 8 1/3 innings deep vs. Albert Pujols and the St. Louis Cardinals. Dickey hasn't giving up a run since his start on 7/20 vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks. The past seven days he has pitched 14.0 innings, only giving up 6 hits, walked 2 batters while striking out 8. He has an ERA of 0.00 with a WHIP of 0.57 in those seven days.

Who to Bench:
Mike Stanton - RF - Florida Marlins:
Stanton is a streaky hitter since being called up. He has the power to hit homeruns and drive in runs but his inconsistency is a burden on this fantasy ownership. I have seen him dropped in some leagues and others get the bench call. I don't think he is a guy you want to drop but perhaps bench until he is a proven consistent hitter.

Who to Add:
Luke Scott - 1B/OF - Baltimore Orioles:
It's shocking that only 38% of Yahoo fantasy owners own Scott. The month of July Scott has raised his average .010% and has had a 10 game hitting streak. Since July 19 he has hit 5 homeruns, driving in 11 RBIs and scored 8 times. For the season he is batting .283 with 17 homeruns, 41 RBIs and 43 Runs. He is a solid backup for the outfield and at first base. Daily owners can use him at the utility and CI position.

Who to Drop:
Matt Wieters - C - Baltimore Orioles:
Wieters had the biggest hype coming into this year after being called up last year, but he has produced at all. The switch hitting catcher is batting .248 with 8 homeruns and 32 RBIs. He played 96 games last year (15 more games than today) and was 0.020 higher in his BA. Until he heats up there is no need to keep him on your bench. Use your roster spot for a utility guy that has a better batting average and is consistent.
