Lions reel in RB Best Allen Park, MI (Sports Network) - The Detroit Lions have agreed to terms with running back Jahvid Best on a five-year deal. Terms of the contract were not released. Best was the Lions' second first-round draft choice and the 30th overall selection in the 2010 NFL Draft after a standout career at California. He ran for 2,668 yards over his three seasons, good for seventh best in school history, and his 29 touchdowns place him third on the Golden Bears' all-time list. Best also finished fifth on the Cal list with 4,045 all-purpose yards. The 5-foot-10, 199-pound native of northern California set school records by averaging 8.14 yards per rushing attempt and 26.38 yards per kickoff return during the 31 games he played. Best put together a sensational 2008 season with 2,247 all-purpose yards to establish a single season school record and his 1,580 yards rushing were good for second on the single season all-time list. He also ran for a single game standard of 311 yards vs. Washington and his 15 rushing touchdowns matched a single season record. 07/30 19:20:31 ET |
